Boys & Girls Clubs of Hamilton is committed to the highest standards of child safety. We follow the safety protocols, training, and policies developed by Boys & Girls Clubs of America and go above and beyond to create a culture of safety, trust, and prevention at every site.
Our Approach to Child Safety Includes
National Background Checks All employees, board members, and volunteers must undergo comprehensive background checks before working with youth and must be re screened regularly.
Mandatory Safety Training Staff receive extensive training in areas such as child abuse prevention, trauma informed care, mandated reporting, supervision, and emergency response. Safety training is ongoing and updated regularly.
Mandatory Reporting We take our role as mandated reporters seriously. All staff are required to report any suspected child abuse or neglect to the appropriate authorities, and we ensure reporting is done promptly and properly.
Safety Policies and Procedures We maintain clear policies regarding supervision, boundaries, appropriate interactions, and reporting. Each Club site follows safety protocols that align with both state law and national Club standards.
Local Partnerships We work closely with local law enforcement, child protection agencies, school districts, and health professionals to ensure a coordinated approach to child safety.
Safety Committees and Audits Our organization conducts regular safety assessments and engages a safety committee to review practices, respond to concerns, and make recommendations for improvement.
Youth Empowerment We teach Club members about their rights, the importance of speaking up, and how to recognize unsafe behavior. We believe that youth safety starts with education and open communication.
