"The Club is where I looked for hope, purpose and direction.
It's where I learned to dream - and to think big." ---Denzel Washington
The mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of Hamilton is to empower all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible individuals. These children have been identified in collaboration with the local school system as children who are living in poverty, and therefore are at a greater risk of not completing their education. The after-school program at the Clubs provides comprehensive programming that focuses on helping youth to make a successful transition from childhood to adulthood.
The comprehensive program being provided by Boys & Girls Clubs of Hamilton provides members with skills that are literally life changing. There is no doubt that the number of youth living in poverty is a crisis for all of society. These children are less likely to finish high school, more likely to have a teenage pregnancy and have much higher incarceration rates than their peers. In many instances, our Clubs are the only places where these children are being taught not just how to behave, but how to dream and succeed. Academic success is not enough. They must be kind, they must have values, they must take responsibility for themselves and their own destinies. The long, distinguished list of successful Alumni who grew up in a Boys & Girls Club is a testament to the effectiveness of our program.
